Cebu City, Philippines

3 days short trip in the Queen City of the South, Cebu City!

I'm having a short vacation with my mother Mama Vi and cousin Art. We don't have a planned itenirary so we will just go where our feet takes us. Our hometown is Cagayan de Oro City but my mother studied in Cebu during her college years so she's quite familiar to this place. I've also been here several times mostly with family and since CDO doesn't have an international airport which made Cebu as the easier place to go transit from international to domestic flights. Also with us is our cousin Cid who works in Cebu, and he is kind enough to accompany us in this mini vacay.

Again, I booked through booking.com. I looked for a place that is affordable for our 3 night stay in Cebu as well as an accessible location for us to go around the city. I booked in Cebu R Hotel, near the Capitol Site but please don't expect too much. Just enough for your money's worth.

Snaps below will be based on the flow of our trip.
  • STK aka Sugba, Tinola, Kilaw - The place is near our place and the resto is actually a home of a local of Cebu who slightly renovated the place to cater food lovers with their delicious meals.

  • Bo's Coffee - Bo's originated in Cebu I believe, so when we went to Ayala Cebu, we had my favourite part of the day which is "Coffee time".
  • SIMALA CHURCH, SIBONGA, CEBU CITY

Home of the Miraculous Mama Mary, this place is quite far from the city proper but definitely worth the trip. We managed to rent a private car for us to take to the place. It was about Php 3000, a little bit pricey compared to the normal commute but since my mother has difficulty walking, we would rather shed this amount to avoid problems with my Mama's health. You can contact this number below if you want to travel with convenience. Look for Manong Jay because he is a great tour guide.

Simala is also a great place to see the beautiful creations of God with a wonderful view. A place of prayer and thanksgiving, indeed Miraculous. Praise be Jesus and Mary.

  • Yoyen's Special Chicaron is indeed special. Better go directly to where it's produced and that is in Carcar, Cebu.

  • This is the authentic Bibingka sold not just in Cebu but throughout the Philippines.

  • In a restaurant owned by a politician in Carcar, they have hammocks outside to take a rest. I would love to have this at home but it's 100k..I can't afford, so better have a photo op.

  • Dried Danggit famously known as Bulad - unusual for foreigners but truly loved by Filipinos.

  • SM SEASIDE CEBU - A new SM mall in Cebu and is currently the 3rd largest shopping mall in the Philippines and 8th in the world. Since it's still very new, there are a few shops that are not yet filled but maybe next time I comeback, it will be full. They also have an Ice skating rink that Art (my cousin) would like to try, he said it's his dream and he fulfilled that dream that day together with Cid.

  • CnT Lechon - my first lechon meal in this vacation. This place is inside the SM seaside mall.

  • SM Seaside viewing deck - we went there around night time, so we can see the lights lit all over Cebu. It was very refreshing especially after roaming around the city with a very humid weather.

  • Then we went on for "Coffee Time" at ROOM FOR DESSERTS which we still do have.

  • Basilica de Sto. Nino - I have been here several times but the presence of the Lord still gives me strength and resets all the stresses in life.

  • Magellan's Cross

  • Zubuchon - another lechon restaurant famous in Cebu, this branch is located in IT Park.

Below is the summary of our Cebu trip:
